1 1/2 cups of milk
3/4 cup + 1 Tbsp Sugar
1 egg
1 Tbsp salt
2 Tbsp yeast
2 cups warm water
9 cups of flour
1 cup of butter
Scald milk, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup butter. Stir in about 2 cups flour, 1 egg and 1 tbsp salt. Let cool a bit then stir in yeast. Continue to add 2 cups of flour to mixture at a time until you reached the total 9 cups.
Do this by hand, it will be sticky and hard to stir. Next place in a bowl cover with plastic wrap and let rise. Butter 2 cookie sheets. When dough has doubled in size. Punch down and divide into 4 sections. Cover surface with flour if dough is sticky. Using one section at a time: roll the dough into a circle. Once it is rolled out spread butter on top. Cut this into 4 sections. (pizza cutter works well) Then cut each section into 3 pieces. You should end up with 12 triangles. Repeat this with each additional section. If you would like to add a note (thankful notes, ect) this is the time. IF you do place a note lengthwise on the triangle of dough. Use plenty of butter when using notes this prevents them from sticking. Roll the dough from the wide end up and tuck the tail of the triangle under the roll and place it on the cookie sheet. This should make 24 rolls per pan. Let rise. Once they are touching, Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes.
