1 lb. steak,
1/2 lb Italian sausage ( I use hot but mild will work)
1 white onion
2 scallions or green onions
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 cans stewed tomatoes
1 can kidney beans
1 can pinto beans
1 cup beef broth
1 can tomato paste (6oz)
1/4 cup chili powder
2 tbs brown sugar
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp red pepper flakes
2 tsp cumin, ground
Fresh ground sea salt and black pepper
In a sauté pan brown the steak and sausage. Toss in the onions and cook until clear then add the garlic. While the meat is cooking grab a large pot and toss in the the remaining ingredients. With a large spoon or spatula stir until blended. Next, toss in the meat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer on low for 3 hours or longer.
Note- This can be used in a crockpot. Just cover and cook on med to high for 8 hours.
If you want to add a little heat to this just cut up a jalapeño pepper.
Don't forget the cornbread and cheese!
