Homemade Salted Carmel
If you love carmel then you'll have to try this recipe.
1 3/4 cup Brown Sugar (you can use white sugar)
3/4 cup Butter
1 heaping cup of cream
Salt as desired
Toss the sugar into a large sauce pan and heat on medium high until dissolved. Remove from heat and slowly whisk the butter in making sure you blend well. Next, return to the stove and add the cream. Continue to whisk the mixture until it becomes smooth. (about 1 minute) Next, remove from heat and toss in the salt, stir until dissolved. Let the mixture cool.
Note: You can serve this hot or cold. Also, if you really like the salted carmel taste, add additional salt after it has cooled. I use sea salt but there is a flaked salt called Maldon that make this really nice. I have found it difficult to find. We have also poured this over popcorn.
