Pineapple Bavarian Cream

1 envelope unflavored gelatin
2 tbsp cold water
1 20 oz can crushed pineapple drained
3 eggs separated
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup heavy cream
maraschino cherries

Sift gelatin in cold water.  In a double broiler combine pineapple, egg yokes, sugar and salt.  Cook stirring until thickens.  Remove from heat and stir in the gelatin.  Cool.  In a bowl whip egg whites and 1 cup cream until stiff.  Pour into pineapple mixture.  Mold and then cool.

This was hard to read.  I'm thinking this was a molded jello type dessert.  The maraschino cherries must be a garnish.
